Combine a newspaper copy desk editor with an avid California hiker and you get Tom Mangan with his excellent, informative and entertaining blog.

One of the greatest things about the Internet and blogs is that it's possible to find others in your own backyard or around the world who share your interests and passions. I live in Florida, but I found an excellent blog about hiking by a blogger across the country in California. If you hold an interest in hiking (and I assume you do since you're reading this) then you should definitely check out Two-Heel Drive, one of the best hiking blogs out there.

Not only does author Tom Mangan paint excellent word pictures of his hiking adventures (like the recent post about hiking to the top of Mission Peak at 5:30 in the morning on Thanksgiving Day to watch the sunrise) and keep readers up to date with the latest news about hiking, but he also takes and posts some of the most beautiful photos you'll ever see from his travels across hiking trails and the outdoors.

In addition, there's no shortage of helpful links on Two-Heel Drive. You'll find a multitude of links to sites about hiking news, advice, gear, trails and equipment retailers, as well as almost 50 links to blogs by other hikers. You could easily spend the better part of a day (trust me, I know) perusing all the goodies on this site

So the next time you take a break from hiking in the real world, trek on over to one of the best blogs about hiking on the Internet, Two-Heel Drive.
