Sebago Lake State Park is a 250-site campground filled with nature trails, sunny beaches and scenic views.
Located near the foothills of the White Mountains in Casco, ME, Sebago Lake State Park opened in 1938 and continues to invite campers to indulge in the park’s picturesque landscape and enjoy the 45 square miles of water-filled activities. Covering 1,400 acres of beautiful land, the park offers families the opportunity to escape hectic schedules, breathe in fresh air and relax. The season begins in May and runs through the middle of October leaving plenty of time to plan an affordable vacation with friends and family. Sleep Under the StarsDispersed between trees, every campsite is large enough to accommodate a maximum of 6 guests. Outfitted with a picnic table and fire ring, each site is level enough for tent camping. For additional coverage during spats of rain, tarps to hang in the surrounding trees and/or canopies are strongly suggested. Toilets, running water and hot showers are easily accessible from all sites. Many sites require guests to carry all of their gear a short distance to their site, but there are drive-up sites with water and electric hookups available. There is limited parking nearby; enough for two vehicles per site. The owners of any other vehicles on the site will have to be park at a reserved lot outside of the park after dropping supplies off. Take Part in Outdoor ActivitiesSebago Lake, the state of Maine’s second largest lake, is a popular spot for activities such as swimming, boating, kayaking and canoeing. Boat rentals are available in town. The lake is filled with trout, bass and other fish for licensed fisher-people. More than 100 miles of shoreline provide ample room for sunbathing and fun in the sand, and there is even a volley ball court. Shady lake-side areas are found throughout the park, which are perfect for an afternoon picnic. In addition to the paved pathways that lead to natural scenery, there are a variety of beginner and intermediate trails and paths for biking and hiking. Lace up those boots to trek through wooded forests to catch glimpses of wildlife, such as deer, loons and woodpeckers. Or gather up the troops to throw a frisbee or play a game of softball. There are level fields found throughout the park perfect for playtime. Camping is an Affordable Vacation OptionAll vacations are expensive, but camping is an affordable option for those with a limited budget. A four-night stay at Sebago Lake State Park can be reserved for under $125. Packing up coolers with meals to cook over a fire minimizes dollars spent at pricey restaurants. It is the ideal way to make long-lasting memories without breaking the bank. While you are encouraged to have fun, a few rules must be followed. Pets are not allowed within the park. Alcohol is prohibited. Hunting is prohibited. Fires are only to be lit within the fire ring, and should never be left unattended. Quiet time begins at 10p.m. Finally, campers are responsible to clean up after themselves. A dump site is open for guests to drop all bags of garbage.
